When he was 12 years old, in 1910, Harry Winston purchased his first gemstone. Winston stopped by a pawn shop and bought a green “stone” for 50 cents that the owner thought was a piece of glass. Two days later, Winston sold it for $800. The stone turned out to be an emerald.
One of the most famous jewels that Harry Winston owned was the emerald and diamond Inquisition Necklace. It was part of “The Court of Jewels” that toured the country raising money for charitable causes between 1949 and 1953.
From its founding in 1932 until now, Harry Winston, has been dedicated to featuring the rarest and finest colored gemstones in extravagant jewelry, as seen in this 52.51-carat emerald and diamond ring.
