Fall 2026/Winter 2027 Vintage Jewelry Hot List

It’s that time of year again when the seasons change and we change what’s in our closets. But don’t be too quick to relegate some of those summer pieces to the back of the closet as this season incorporates some of your favs into the cooler weather rotation. This year’s fall 2026/winter 2027 fashion references the glamour of the Art Deco era, the maximalist 1970s and the minimalist 1990s for an eclectic collection of style markers.

While fall 2026/winter 2027 brings a fresh take on dressing, there’s also a move to layering pieces that you already own, personalizing your look so that it is expressive of who you are, while showing that you put some thought into styling your outfit. Jewelry of course is one of the best ways to add a personal touch to your look, especially vintage jewelry, which tends to be one-of-a-kind with intriguing designs. There’s a lot of embellishment in this fall’s fashion. Many designers incorporated detailing in apparel that may be embodied in jewelry, such as fringe or tassels, while others featured brooches, pearls and novelty jewels. Let’s take a look at what jewelry to wear to be on-trend right now.

Art Deco Jewelry is Centerstage

Art Deco diamond, sapphire and platinum ring, circa 1920The opulence of Art Deco was the muse for some designers who filled the runways with long silky fringe, opera length gloves, lavish textures, velvets and lots of glitz and glamour that’s perfect for party time. Soft silks and fluid satins transformed into slip dresses, or skirts, embellished with lace, are one of the season’s most alluring styles. And they’re right in step with the extravagance of the Art Deco era that translates into contemporary fashion found on the runways of Chanel, Khaite, Loro Piana and others.

There is a lot of Art Deco jewelry that can be worn to complement these styles infused with the glamour of the era. However, you may also choose to wear one (or more) pieces of Art Deco jewelry with contemporary clothes in a nod to the era, without going all in. This season, designers also frequently referenced the minimalism of the 1990s. Art Deco jewelry, with its sleek, linear symmetry, will work beautifully when paired with the clean elegance of those pared back ‘90s styles.

Ladylike

Diamond, ruby, 18-karat gold and platinum grape vine broochThere’s rarely a season when fashion doesn’t nod to the ladies who lunch. This go around, the ladylike look is defined by gently structured forms, sculptural jackets and sumptuous texture. Jeans, a cashmere sweater and a nipped at the waist jacket is the  mix that brings a casual take to ladylike style. The understated glamour of pearls, or the classic chic of gold jewelry, complements the simplicity of these looks that were found on the runways of Dior, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Chanel and more.

Brooches, which emerged as the “must-have” piece a few years ago, continue to be one of the coolest jewels you can wear to be fashion forward. Versatile pieces that can be worn a number of ways, brooches are always right for ladylike styles.  You may want to add a little more fun by adding in an unexpected jewel — a fruit themed brooch in precious gems perhaps — that suits the tone of your outfit, but allows some of your true self to shine through. Brooches had a strong showing at Armani, Ralph Lauren, Etro and Prabal Gurung.

Florals & Violets

Amethyst and 18-karat gold bracelet, English, signed Garrard & Co.Besides animal prints, florals made a big splash in cold weather apparel. From dainty buds to full blooms, flowers, in subdued shades, blossomed everywhere. Prints were often filled with color and one of the stand out colors of the season was purple, in various shades from lavender to violet. Oscar de la Renta, Dries Van Noten and Simon Rocha were among the designers who leaned into florals.

Amethyst is the jewel of choice for those with a passion for purple. An affordable gemstone, you can find jewelry with a large size amethyst that will really stand out. While the deeper, more saturated colors are considered most desirable, there are also lighter tones of this gem, which was highly popular during the Victorian era when very fine amethyst was sourced from Russia.

1970s Influences

Antique diamond, ruby, natural pearl and 18-karat gold tassel pendant, FrenchFlared pants, suede, corduroy, earthy colors and chic fitted tops embody 1970s style, especially when worn with platform shoes. Olive green, burnt orange and shades of brown from tan to espresso are particularly on trend for fashion that takes its cue from the ‘70s. Tassels and fringe are a big part of this look. Wear a long gold necklace with a fringe tassel to add an element of playfulness to this style, which also looks great with layered necklaces, stacks of bangles and hoop earrings. Think modern bohemian, or rich hippie luxe when creating your 1970s coded outfit.  Designer Ulla Johnson offered a collection filled with 1970s references.

Fall 2026/Winter 2027 has shaped up to be an eclectic season for fashion. It’s partly about shopping your own closet and layering in pieces that you already own with a new item, or pairing things that you already own in different ways. It’s those unexpected combinations that create a fresh from the runway look.

One last style note for this season: It has an element of novelty to it, especially jewelry. Juicy fruit themed jewels, mixed metals, pearls and unexpected utilitarian items such as keys, lighters or even a pencil, were worn on a silk cord as jewelry, all elements that may express your personal style and add a little fun to the mix.
